About the Author:
TOBY CARROLL is a Research Fellow at the Centre on Asia and Globalization, National University of Singapore. His research interests are in the field of political economy, and he has published work on development in Southeast Asia in journals such as Development and Change, Australian Journal of International Affairs and Journal of Contemporary Asia.
